The bristles stay covered, the cupboard or utility corner stays clean, and the broom is off the floor so it is not standing in whatever you just mopped. The bristles themselves are feathered to lift fine dust rather than push it around, which is the difference that shows on a tiled floor after a dusty week. The aluminium pole telescopes, so it suits whoever is sweeping, and a separate bristle comb is included for pulling out trapped hair and dust instead of picking at it by hand.
