You have creamed the butter and sugar, folded in the flour, and a good tablespoon of the mixture is still smeared around the inside of the bowl where a straight-edged spatula cannot reach. Scrape it with a spoon and you recover about half. Put the spatula down mid-mix and it leaves a stripe of batter across the worktop.

The Fin is curved to match the inside of a mixing bowl, so the blade meets the wall along its whole length instead of touching at one point. The silicone is properly flexible — it bends into the base of the bowl and lifts the mixture out rather than pushing it around. The other half of the design is the chunky weighted base: set it down between folds and it stands upright on the counter with the blade in the air, so nothing drips. It is one moulded piece of silicone with nothing to trap mixture, so it washes in seconds and is dishwasher safe.
