Glazing a tray of buns with a normal pastry brush is a small mess: a bowl of beaten egg on one side, the brush dripping across the worktop every time it travels between bowl and tray, and the last few buns getting whatever is left at the bottom. The Glaze brush carries the mixture inside it. You fill the body once, then squeeze as you brush and the egg wash comes through the bristles where you need it.

Two heads come in the box – one shaped for egg wash, one for sugar glaze – so it handles both ends of a baking session without a rinse in between. It stands upright on its base between uses instead of lying down and marking the counter, which is the difference between a tidy worktop and a sticky one. The whole thing comes apart for cleaning, so you can actually get the egg out of it rather than hoping the tap will do it, and it is dishwasher safe. Stone colourway, 22 cm high.
