The Large Scoop Colander removes that step entirely. You scoop the food out, hold it over the pan while it drains, and go straight to the plate.

This is the large size, 34.2 cm long and holding roughly two cups at a time, which is enough to move a full pot of pasta or a family serving of vegetables in two or three lifts rather than ten. Be clear that it is a scoop, not a bowl: a deep, slotted draining tool on a long handle, so your hand stays away from the steam and the oil. It handles pasta, chips, mandazi, boiled potatoes, blanched greens — anything that needs lifting out of liquid rather than pouring. Heat resistant to 240°C and dishwasher safe.

The colour is aubergine, Joseph Joseph's name for a deep purple, and it was a UK and European colourway rather than a general release — so it is not one you will see in most kitchens.
