A standard peeler slides straight off a ripe mango or a soft tomato and takes half the flesh with it. That is the job this one is built for. The serrated stainless-steel blade bites into soft skins instead of skating over them, so you get the peel off a tomato, a peach or a very ripe mango without mashing what is underneath.

It is a straight stick-format peeler rather than a Y-shape, so you draw it towards you the way you would with a knife – more control on small, awkward fruit. There is a zesting tool built into the same handle for citrus, and a protective guard that clips over the blade so it can go loose in a drawer without becoming a hazard when you reach in. At 18.6 cm it is a slim thing to store. Yellow colourway.
