Measuring out rice, unga or sugar usually takes three things — a scoop to get it out of the sack, a cup to measure it, and a spoon to level it off. That is three things to wash for one small job, and one of them is always in the dishwasher when you need it.

The Scoop Measure, which Joseph Joseph also sold under the name Scoop with Measurements, collapses all of that into one tool. The volume graduations are moulded into the bowl of the scoop itself, so you dip into the container, read the level off the side and pour. The bowl is graduated from 25 ml up to 150 ml, which covers the everyday range: a portion of rice, a measure of cooking oil, the sugar for a cake. The long handle means you can reach into a deep tin or a sack of unga without putting your hand in after it. This one is red, which has the practical advantage of being easy to spot in a drawer.

One honest note: Joseph Joseph has discontinued this line and no longer publishes dimensions or a material for it. The figures floating around on reseller sites contradict each other, so we have left those fields out rather than print a number we cannot stand behind.
