The part of a travel mug nobody thinks about is the part your mouth touches. On most of them the drinking spout sits open to the world — in a car cup holder, on a dusty matatu, in the bottom of a bag with your keys — and you drink from it anyway.

Sipp is designed around that. The flip-top cap closes right over the mouthpiece, sealing it completely between sips, so the surface you drink from stays clean from the kitchen to the desk. Closed, it is leakproof, which is the difference between carrying tea in a bag and not carrying it at all. The lid screws on rather than pushing on, and the mug is finished in a soft-touch green with a non-slip grip, so it does not slide across a dashboard or skid off a sloping desk. It holds 340 ml, roughly a large mug of chai or coffee, and takes liquids up to 100°C — so it can be filled straight from the kettle or the thermos. Stands 14 cm high, which clears most cup holders and car door pockets. Top-rack dishwasher safe, and microwave safe once the lid is off.
