The roll-top lid runs on a hydraulic hinge: lift it and it glides back through 90 degrees and stays open, release it and it lowers itself quietly, no clatter, no fingers caught, no lid to find somewhere to put down. Underneath, a stand holds a spirit burner or candle to keep 6 litres of food at serving temperature through a long buffet.
